Are you 2017’s Best Young Rail Researcher?

The 2016 prize was awarded to Yousif Muhamedsalih from University of Huddersfield for his work on economic tyre turning.

The clock is ticking and there are now just two weeks left to submit entries and nominations for the 2017 edition of the Best Young Researcher Award.

Brought to you by RRUKA in conjunction with the railway division of IMechE, the competition is open to young rail professionals and early-career researchers in the first 10 years of their railway career. It acknowledges and celebrates the achievement(s) of an individual and highlights the valuable contribution their work is making to both their organisation and the GB rail industry as a whole.

The award presents an opportunity to demonstrate just how fulfilling and rewarding a career in the rail industry can be. We want to encourage those at the start of their career in the industry to remain in rail, and to promote it so that others are also encouraged to join.

This year’s winner will receive:

  • a cash prize of £1000
  • a commemorative trophy, and
  • a unique opportunity to present their work in a specially dedicated session at the upcoming Annual Conference on 16 November.

There are options to submit your own entry or nominate a suitable colleague.

Please visit the competition hub or contact: secretariat@rruka.org.uk if you have any queries.

Deadline for entries: Friday 13 October
