Network Rail has agreed to co-fund RRUK-A

Network Rail has agreed to co-fund RRUK-A, alongside RSSB. This further demonstrates the commitment of industry to strengthening its ties with academia and gives extra stability to the long-term presence of RRUK-A. Andy Doherty, Director of Railway Systems Engineering at Network Rail, has joined the newly elected committee.

Network Rail Innovation and Suggestions Scheme

Network Rail is on a quest for innovative ideas to help make the railway more efficient with the launch of a new matchmaking website for suppliers to submit solutions to a range of business challenges. The new website sets out a series of priorities and challenges Network Rail aims to overcome to deliver a better value railway and invites suppliers from the rail industry and beyond to submit their ideas on how they can help overcome them. The company is keen on attracting new entrants from other industries, as well as small businesses, universities and research institutes.

RRUK-A Launched

Rail Research UK Association (RRUK-A) is a partnership between the British rail industry and UK universities. It was set up in 2010 with the following aims:

  • The support and facilitation of railway research in academia.
  • The common understanding of research needs to support the rail industry and its future development.
  • The identification of research, development and application opportunities in railway science and engineering.
  • The provision of solutions to the rail industry.

It is funded by RSSB and Network Rail.
