EU Horizon 2020 Initiative

What is Horizon 2020?

Horizon 2020 is an EU Initiative which will fund in the region of €70 billion of research and development over the 7 years from 2014. The new Horizon 2020 research agenda is expected to provide some exciting opportunities for new entrants as well as current players within the transport sector.

Networking and Information Day

On Friday 8th November the Railway Industry Association (RIA), Rail Research UK Association (RRUKA) and the Transport Knowledge Transfer Network (TKTN) held a one-day seminar to help industry and academia get to grips with the HORIZON 2020 which begins January 2014.

If you were unable to take part you can now find the proceedings on the Transport KTN website.

Workshop participants should also now have received a workbook with outputs from the breakout sessions which took place on the day.

A draft version of this has been sent to Andy Doherty (ERRAC), Lea Paties (UNIFE) and Dennis Schut (UIC), requesting them to make it available to the coordinators of project proposals, when these become known.  It is possible, therefore, that if you put your contact details forward at one of the break-out sessions, you may be contacted by a Project Coordinator to see if you are interested in joining a project consortium.
